The well-developed 704ha farm has 507ha of irrigated, fertile and predominantly free-draining soils.

An opportunity to obtain a high-profile dairy farm in Central Hawke’s Bay is being marketed by Colliers International Rural and Agribusiness.

“This is a top performing, well-planned and executed dairy farm in outstanding condition, with a solid base of assets for maintaining the already high levels of production,” says broker, James Parsons, based in Waipukurau.

Parsons says Ingleton Farms, situated in the Tikokino District, at 260 Makaroro Rd, represents a prized offering of scale, scope and productive potential.

“The superbly developed 704ha platform has 507ha of irrigated, fertile and predominantly free-draining soils,” he says.

Hosting eight well-maintained dwellings, with superior farm infrastructure, Ingleton Farms generates about 705,000kg of milk solids a year from 1580 cows.

Parsons say an astute irrigation development and efficient fertiliser programme allows consistent annual production of high quality pasture.

“The quality of infrastructure sets this impressive property apart, including a 70-bale rotary shed built in 2008, complete with automatic cup removers, Waikato teat spray for each bale, protract drafting, two remote control backing gates and a yard capacity of 750 cows.”

Three main calf sheds are situated on the farm, with the former 54 bale herringbone shed and woolshed being converted into pens.

Parsons describes a state-of-the-art irrigation system as the “piece de resistance” of the farm’s infrastructure; “it’s unrivalled in the Hawke’s Bay farming industry”.

The farm’s effluent system supplies to 95ha, with an upgrade in progress to cover 175ha.

A recently constructed effluent holding pond holds about 200 days-worth of storage.

“A 155ha runoff is located within minutes of the main block,” Parsons says.

“This has traditionally been used to winter cows on and grow winter crops including maize silage, lucerne and grass, and is a major asset to the operation.”

Well serviced by the local Central Hawke’s Bay agricultural community, Ingleton Farms has excellent access to traditional farming amenities, with the townships of Waipukurau and Waipawa located within a 15-minute drive and the Hatuma Lime Quarry only eight minutes’ drive from the farm. A metal quarry is onsite for track maintenance.

“Enhanced by the warm and temperate climate of Central Hawke’s Bay, the location of Ingleton Farms is ideally suited not only to dairy, but other agricultural systems,” Parsons says.

“A dairy farm offering of this scale and specification rarely frequents New Zealand’s property market, certainly in the North Island.

“The nature of the soil types, the strength of the irrigation and land use are expected to attract a number of potential end users.”
